Invited by “MUSICACOUSTICA-BEIJING” as judge in the The Fifteenth Electronic Music Composition Competition, reknown Italian contemporary composer Nicola Sani will hold the concert FOUR DARKS IN RED on 23rd Oct at CCoM. The four pieces performed for this concert are all China Premiere and represent different important aspects of the Italian composer.
The composer Nicola Sani will also hold a conference on 25th Oct at the Italian Culture Institute on the subject “LA MUSICA ITALIANA DAL XX AL XXI SECOLO (Italian Music from 20th to 21st Century)” .

NICOLA SANI, Ferrara 1961. Studies in composition with Domenico Guaccero and Karlheinz Stockhausen and electronic music composition with Giorgio Nottoli. Author of stage and dance operas, intermedia works, symphonic and chamber compositions, performed worldwide. He is currently artistic director of Accademia Chigiana in Siena, president of the National Institute of Verdi Studies, Parma, board member of “ArchivioLuigi Nono”, Venice, artistic advisor of IUC – University Concert Institution, Rome. He has been general manager of Teatro Comunale di Bologna, artistic director of Teatro dell’Opera di Roma and president of the “Isabella Scelsi Foundation ” of Rome, entitled to the management of the cultural legacy of the composer Giacinto Scelsi), as well as board member of Opera-Europa in Brussels. Main awards: “Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres” by the French Ministry of Culture; “New Connections Award” by the British Council; “Scanno Prize” for Music. Prix “Ars Electronica” – Golden Nica, Linz.
MUSICACOUSTICA-BEIJING is one of the most important music festivals in China. In the past 20 years, it has annually presented a series of electro acoustic/computer music concerts by prestigious musicians within different schools and styles from all over the world. Its activities also include lectures, master classes, academic writing presentations and awards, sound installations and exhibitions of new devices, as well as the influential national electronic music composition competitions.
The festival first started in 1994 as Beijing Electronic Music Week. Under the guidance of Professor Zhang Xiaofu. It hasdeveloped and extended its program over the last thirteen years. At first, thefestival was held every two or three years. Musicians from all over the world meet in Beijing at the end of October. The festival is enchanted with numerous concerts and activities. As the sponsor and venue of MUSICACOUSTICA-BEIJING,the Central Conservatory of Music (CCOM) supports the festival. MUSICACOUSTICA-BEIJING is becoming a real feast of music. Its size, level, and standard have made itthe most important electronic music festival in Asia.
The 19th MUSICACOUSTICA-BEIJING will be held at Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, 22nd – 28th in October. The theme of this year’s festival is Convergence. We are having prestigious composers and musiciansfrom the US, Italy, Poland, Great Britain, Hungary, Mexico, Argentina, Greece, Spain, Ukraine, Russia,Iran, Switzerland, France, Belgium as well as China. The 36th ICEM-CIME General Assembly Conference will be hosted during the festival.
