The Italian Chamber of Commerce in China and the Italian Cultural Institute in Beijing and the Embassy of Italy in China are pleased to invite you to the presentation of the book:

La Camera di Commercio Italiana in Cina. I documenti dell’Archivio Storico-Diplomatico del Ministero degli Affari Esteri 1903–1924
(The Italian Chamber of Commerce in China: Documents from the Historical–Diplomatic Archives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs 1903–1924).

The volume, edited by the President of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in China and by Professor Stefano Piastra of the University of Bologna, with a preface by H.E. the Ambassador of Italy to China, Massimo Ambrosetti, reproduces and critically contextualizes a corpus of previously unpublished documents relating to the Italian Chamber of Commerce in China, established in Shanghai in 1903. The documents, covering the period from 1903 to 1924, are preserved in the Historical–Diplomatic Archives of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Rome (ASDMAE, Italian Diplomatic and Consular Representations in Beijing, Pos. 50, b. 54, files 675–676).

These materials provide an exceptional resource for the study of socio-economic interactions and transnational patterns of human mobility between Italy and China in the first quarter of the twentieth century, a period framed by the transition from the Qing Empire to the Republic of China.

The volume has been published by the Department of Education Sciences of the Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna, in collaboration with the Italian Chamber of Commerce in China. It is available in Italian and can be downloaded free of charge at the following link: https://amsacta.unibo.it/id/eprint/8503/
