Conferenze in musica: “Giuseppe Verdi e La Traviata”

Quest’anno si celebra il 120mo anniversario della morte del grande compositore italiano Giuseppe Verdi, autore operistico fra i più conosciuti ed amati dal pubblico italiano e di tutto il mondo. Nella sua lunga e prolifica carriera, Giuseppe Verdi compose alcune fra le opere più famose e rappresentate nella storia della lirica, fra queste La Traviata, che secondo una recente statistica è probabilmente l’opera con il maggior numero di recite al mondo.

Per celebrare l’anniversario verdiano ed in preparazione della messa in scena presso il National Centre for Performing Arts de La Traviata (dal 5 all’11 aprile prossimo), l’Istituto Italiano di Cultura dell’Ambasciata d’Italia a Pechino, in collaborazione con il NCPA, ha organizzato una “conferenza in musica” dal titolo “Giuseppe Verdi e La Traviata”.

La conferenza “Giuseppe Verdi e La Traviata” sarà tenuta dal dott. Giuseppe Cuccia, autorevole esperto di storia dell’opera lirica nonché Consulente Artistico per l’Opera Lirica presso il NCPA fin dal 2011. Nella sua conferenza il dott. Cuccia, oltre ad introdurre la vicenda narrativa ed il retroterra letterario del libretto de La Traviata, spiegherà al grande pubblico la rivoluzionarietà e l’efficace ricercatezza del linguaggio musicale adottato da Verdi, elementi che contribuiranno grandemente all’immenso successo fino ad oggi riservatole dal pubblico di tutto il mondo.

Nel corso della conferenza, i cantanti del NCPA Zhou Xiaolin (soprano), KouJing (tenore) e Zhang Yang (baritono), accompagnati al pianoforte dal Maestro Marco Bellei (Central Conservatory of Music) eseguirano alcune fra le più celebri ed amate arie da La Traviata.

Concluderà la serata un’intervista, moderata dal Direttore dell’IIC Franco Amadei, con i cantanti ospiti, che andranno in scena presso la NCPA la prossima settimana.

Messa in scena per la prima volta nel 2010, frutto di una collaborazioneinternazionale con la regia di Hennis Brockhous, scenografia di Benito Leonorie costumi di Giancarlo Colis, questa produzione, ambientata nelle atmosfereromantiche della Parigi ottocentesca, ha riscosso a Pechino un enorme successoe rappresenta una scelta di eccezionale valore per il ritorno sul grandepalcoscenico della NCPA proprio nell’anno del 120mo anniversario Verdiano.

Giuseppe Cuccia 

Giuseppe Cuccia, opera art consultant of the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Cina. Before coming to China, Cuccia served as art director in famous opera houses or festivals in Italy and other countries (such as Teatro Bellini of Catania, Teatro de la Maestranza of Siviglia, Teatro Massimo of Palermo, Teatro Lirico of Cagliari, Festival di Toledo “El Greco”, etc.). Since March 2011, he has been the opera art consultant of the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Cina.

Zhou Xiaolin 

Resident opera singer of the NCPA, soprano. She has sung the lead role in more than twenty Chinese and western opera productions, such as A Village Teacher (as Yang Cai Hong), La Bohème (as Mimi), La Traviata (as Violetta), Il Trovatore (as Leonora), RickshawBoy (as Hu Niu), Simon Boccanegra (as Amelia), Ruslka (asRusalka), Carmen (as Michaela), Le Nozze di Figaro (as La Contessa), Turandot (as Liu), etc.

Zhou Xiaolin has played more than 20 Chinese and western operas with excellent musical connotation and solid basic skills. The works involved are in a variety of languages and styles; her voice is both lyrical and dramatic and she created three-dimensional characters and a noveland unique stage style.

She graduated from Central Conservatory of Music and was a soloist of PLA’s General Political Department Song and Dance Troupe. She has played the main role in many national large-scale theatrical performances and performances of state affairs and foreign affairs. She closely linked her artistic pursuits with her responsibilities, and used singing to spread Chinese culture and the spirit ofthe times.

Zhou Xiaolin has won the “Chinese Golden Bell Award for Music”, “CCTV Young Singer Grand Prix”, “Wenhua Vocal Program Award”, “Neue Stimmen” Genmany and other national and international vocal competition awards. She starred in the opera The Legend of Patriot and won China Government Award for Cultureand Art — Wenhua Award and the “Five One Project” Excellent Works Award of the Central Propaganda Department. In 2012, she was selected as China’s top ten sopranos by CCTV “Glory Bloom”.

Kou Jing

Resident singer ofthe NCPA, tenor. Participated in the NCPA’s productions La Traviata, Rusalka, Fang Zhimin, Die Lustige Witwe, Turandot, Lucia di Lammermoor, Tristanund Isolde, Lan Huahua and Falstaff.

Master of Opera singing at the Parma Conservatory in Italy. Bachelor of piano at China Conservatory. He participated in the Italian Ministry of Culture to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Verdi’s birth, Messa di Requiem, which was toured in many cities in Italy and the United States. It was commented by the Parma Postas “the tenor with undisputed performance”. He has performed many operas and concerts at the Royal Opera of Parma, the Paganini Concert Hall, the Bologna Municipal Opera, the Casal Maggiore Municipal Opera, and the Guastalla Municipal Opera. He was elected to the Bologna Opera School and the Bologna Municipal Opera to jointly produce the opera Olympics as the leading actor Christine.

Main award-winning experience:

third prize and special prize of the Italian “Voci dal Mediterraneo” International Opera Competition, third prize of the Italian “Carlo Zampighi” International Opera Competition, third prize of the Italian “Andrea Chénier” International Opera Competition, Italy “Maria Caniglia” International Opera Competition Lions Special Award, Italy “Opera Live” International Opera Competition – Opera Don Giovanni-“Don Ottavio” role award.

Zhang Yang

Resident opera singer of the NCPA, baritone. Zhang Yang has participated in the following productions: Andrea Chénier, a coproduction of the NCPA, the Royal Opera House and San Francisco Opera, and NCPA productions such as Simon Boccanegra, The Dawns Here Are Quiet, Fang Zhimin, La Gioconda, Carmen, Le Nozze di Figaro, Turandot, Lucia di Lamermoor, Roméo et Juliette, Un Ballo in Maschera, Don Giovanni, children’s opera Effendi, etc. Lead singer of the song Common Home • Ode to Peace in the theatrical performance of the “One Belt One Road” International Cooperation Summit Forum- The Millennium Covenant.

Zhang Yang graduated from the People’s Liberation Army Academy of Arts and the Royal Conservatory of Parma, Italy. He studied with the world-famous soprano Mirella Freni and baritone Alessandro Corbelli, and Chinese baritone QU Bo. He won the first prize in the Italian International Vocal Competition Anita Cerqueti. First place in the Cubec International Vocal Master Class in Modena, Italy. He has participated in the international opera productions such as Le Nozze di Figaro, La Bohème, Falstaff, etc.

In 2013, he graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Parma with summa cum laude, and in the same year was invited by La Scala and the Royal Opera House of Parma to participate in the Verdi Opera Concert.

Marco Bellei

Marco Bellei, Italian musician. Now he is a high-level foreign expert of the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs P.R. China and a professor of China’s Central Conservatory of Music. Doctoral supervisor.

The theatres he had cooperated with spread all over the world. The conductors and singers he had collaborated with include Zubin Metha, Abbado, Richard Bonynge, Alessandro De Marchi, Richard Bonynge, Alberto Zedda, Ivor Bolton, Daniele Gatti, Maurizio Benini, Domingo, Mirela Freni, Luciano Pavarotti, Leo Nucci, Joyce Di Donato, Juan Diego Flórez, Eva Mei, Luca Pisaroni, Roberto Aronica, Carlo Guelfi, Annick Massis, Bruno De Simone, Chiara Taigi, Roberto de Candia, Nicolai Ghiaurov.etc. From over 30 years opera work and cooperation, Marco Bellei has gained rich art and teaching experience.
