After the success of the exhibition at the Millennium Museum in Beijing, we are delighted to inform that the Exhibiton “Paestum – A city of the Ancient Mediterranean” moved to Shenzhen and will be open to the public till October 13th at the Shenzhen Nanshan Museum.
Paestum, located in the Campania region of southern Italy, was an important city in Magna Grecia more than two thousand years ago. It is probably named after the sea god of Greek mythology, Poseidon. During the Roman rule the city was renamed Paestum. Over the centuries, Paestum has hosted many ethnic groups and families, different productive structures and different sanctuaries and rituals. His long life has accompanied the entire Greco-Roman period of the Mediterranean area. A multiethnic civilization that has transmitted a precious cultural heritage.
The exhibition consists of 134 exquisite artifacts from the Archaeological Park of Paestum. These artworks which reflect the social history of Paestum between the 6th century BC and 3rd century BC, come over to China. Let us turnover the dusty history and discover the prosperity a millennium ago with these magnificent cultural treasures.
