The Italian Cultural Institute in Beijing is pleased to announce the conference “Cultural Values and Policies in the EU: Competences, Instruments and Challenges”, to be delivered by Professor Raffaele Torino, Full Professor of Comparative Private Law at Roma Tre University.
The event is organized in the context of the Italian Cultural Institute in Beijing’s current Presidency of the EUNIC (European Union National Institutes for Culture) China Cluster, held by Director Federico Roberto Antonelli, underscoring the Institute’s long-term commitment to fostering dialogue on European values, culture, and cooperation.
About the conference speaker:
Professor Torino, a distinguished scholar of European Union law, holds the Jean Monnet Chair “EU Values in the Online Digital Environment” and serves as Scientific Coordinator of the European Documentation Centre Discipol Roma Tre. His internationally recognized research spans EU law and policies, digital regulation, consumer law, and comparative private law, while his professional experience as a lawyer admitted to practise before the Italian Supreme Court further enriches his perspective.
This conference will offer an in-depth analysis of the European Union’s legal and policy framework governing cultural values, examining the allocation of competences, the instruments available to promote culture, and the challenges facing the Union in an evolving global and digital landscape.
The conference will be held exclusively in English.
